The other thing about hotwiring is that it's permanent. Once hotwired you can't ever start the car again with the key, you have to keep hotwiring it every time. 'yes' and 'no' are sometimes not-so-Universal (a "thumbs up" is Positive in most countries, but considered a Threat in others, for example) but the sound of Not Knowing ("Huh?") is...

I feel like a sound with an upward inflection denotes positivity, or a yes; while a downward inflection implies negativity, or a no. I feel the same can be said for positive or negative movements or facial expressions. Such as a smile with arms spread is a positive welcoming message, while a frown or stern look with arms brought in is a guarding expression; denoting yes or no, respectively. However, I'm not well-traveled at all. So, I could be completely wrong.

Uh-huh and a-ah are a pretty universal Yes and No, though the former is more often used as a form of sarcastic scepticism when someone's telling you something and you really do not beleive it at all... :P

I lived in Ethiopia and they do the 'inhale' for "yes" but another thing they do is say 'ish'. So for awhile, as they were talking and they did that, I thought they were shushing me so I'd stop talking.

My understanding is that in Bangladesh, "yes" is wobbling your head side-to-side. (In looking it up, it seems that it's regional to South Asia.)
